Reviews from Students and Parents:

“Hello, my name is Richelle and I am one of Annie’s alumni students. I took piano lessons for about ten years under her instruction. During my first stages of lessons, she took the time to understand my strengths, weaknesses, areas I needed to improve in, and time management to balance piano lessons as a priority along with school. She teaches with grace, knows how to be assertive and calm, articulate and careful when explaining, but most of all she is patient with the pace of all her student’s abilities to learn and to grow. I am proud to say that she has been a huge role model I look up to in my life. I’m beyond grateful to have been a student under Annie, for not only has she taken the time to invest in my potential as a performer, she’s also incredibly caring towards my wellbeing in schools life, and my personal relationships, like an older sister/mentor. That extra willingness to care about my personal endeavors motivated me to work and practice harder for her; relationships like those are the kinds that makes students to want to push themselves harder. These are some life lessons that I did not expect to take away from a simple piano program but that’s just the impact Annie has on all of her students. My skillset, performance, time management, and general outlook on my life have positively developed thanks to Annie and I only hope for the same experiences for her next generation of piano students! Cheers!” – Richelle S. (Former Student)

“My 12-year-old and 10-year-old have been taking piano lessons from Teacher Annie for over 4 years.  We can’t be happier and my kids really like her and enjoy her lessons.
When I was looking for a piano teacher. I talked to a couple of parents I met at school and at swim practice.  They both recommended Annie to me.  These parents didn’t know each other but it was a coincidence that their kids had the same piano teacher!  They all said great things about her.  That’s how my kids started taking lessons at Annie’s piano studio. Teacher Annie is an experienced teacher with many years of teaching.  She knows how to make the students feel comfortable with their abilities and challenge the students to get better.  She is patient with students and knows their strengths and what they need help with.  I have 2 kids with different ages, skill levels, and interest levels.  Annie knows how to use different strategies to motivate and challenge them, and help them enjoy playing piano. Annie set high but achievable expectations from the students.  Homework and daily piano practice are expected.  I go to the piano recitals every year and I am very impressed with all levels of Annie’s students.  Due to the pandemic, we are offered to take lessons remotely.  I was skeptical in the beginning with remote piano lessons.  It turns out the remote piano lessons are as great as in-person lessons.  My kids have been making good progress in the last 6 months with remote piano lessons.  In many cases, she spends more than the lesson time to ensure my kids understand the weekly assignments, without charging me extra.  I appreciate her dedication to her profession and to her students.
She is very flexible and would try her best to accommodate your schedule if something comes up that week, as long as advanced notice is given.
I highly recommend her if you are looking for a piano teacher!” – Jenny L.

“My daughter had two piano teachers before Teacher Annie, but she could not get on the right track. After a couple of lessons with Teacher Annie, I knew that she was just the right one for my daughter. She and my daughter are more like good friends than teacher-and-student. She listens to my daughter and me and answers our questions with great patience and responsibility. Sometimes I was touched by her sincere. I am very impressed by how much my daughter’s piano skill has improved after three years of lessons with her. Thank you, Teacher Annie.” – Yuan Z. (PARENT)

“Annie is a passionate piano teacher. As a teacher, she works to accommodate each student’s needs, making sure to push them just enough to keep the students motivated but also learning quickly and accurately. Annie isn’t the type of teacher to just allow students to pass along the levels. Instead, she really focuses on accuracy, speed, strength, and overall emotion of a piece, making sure the student masters all these aspects before they are allowed to move on. Along with songs from level books and fun recital pieces, Annie also teaches music theory. This is good for the student’s overall musically career, can be applied to any other instrument, and enhances the level of technicality required for more advanced music. Annie also teaches students different styles of music, for instance: classical, jazz, contemporary, etc. She strives to really widen the perspective of her students through all types of music. Annie is also a caring teacher. Although she has high expectations for her students, she will always work out new plans to try and work together with her student, rather than just talking at the student. She works to create meaningful relationships with her students that show authentic caring to each individual, which makes her not only a great teacher, but also mentor to look up to. She acknowledges each student’s funds of knowledge, school, and family, in order to create a lesson plan that is engaging and musically stimulating, in order to keep students happy and learning. Overall, Annie is a great teacher that works to individualize lesson plans, hold high expectations for her students, and pushes students to master difficult pieces that they might’ve not believed they could do before.” – Melinda T. (STUDENT)

“The piano lessons were enjoyable yet rigorous and effective.  Through both in-person and remote lessons, A N N I E skillfully addressed each student’s weak points and enhanced students’ abilities to learn independently.” – Kevin P. (STUDENT)

“I started learning how to play the piano about July of 2019 of my own volition. I’ve always wanted to learn as a kid but didn’t have time or proper motivation to learn (as kids are won’t to do). I was apprehensive going through with it at such a late start (I was 33 when I decided to dedicate a bit of my free time for piano), but Annie has always assured me from the start that it’s not unusual, nor wasteful to begin the process. From the beginning, the choices on how I want to learn always boiled down to what I want and what I can handle. Annie’s very knowledgeable in all aspects of teaching and has asked me multiple times how I want to learn and in what direction I want to take. With my input and her recommendations we’ve gone through lesson plans that are challenging, but also fun and rewarding. There’s no better feeling than finally getting a song right and she ensures that I’m not bored by giving me different songs and exercises in a pace that I’m comfortable in. As an adult, my social and private life also take priority. Annie’s always understandable when something comes up and is very flexible when I have to make changes with our schedule. I truly appreciated all the efforts she went through when covid first started as well. She ensured the safety of all her students by taking the initiative in proper social distancing and cleanliness even before the rest of the state was pushing for them. I’m only a fledgling in the piano world, but I’m looking forward to learning more from Annie earnestly. I truly can’t wait until I’m able to play all the songs I want to.” – Jam G. (STUDENT)

“My daughter has been taking piano lessons from Annie for the past 7 years, she is now 11 years old. Annie is a talented musician and pianist with very effective teaching methods. She not only teaches her students how to read music, they also work on the technique, theory, and building on their music repertoire.  Annie is kind but firm; patient but has expectations! She instills the discipline to practice and holds the students to a very high standard that does nothing short of setting them up for success. This helped them gain the confidence to perform in front of others during a public recital that she organizes once a year. Since then, I have added my son, 9 years old, he has been taking lessons from Annie for 3 years and recently my youngest son, 6 years old. Annie is also very flexible. Due to our family’s busy schedule, she has always been incredibly accommodating and willing to work with us in order to reschedule our lessons. She is efficient with her time, and gets a lot covered in a short lesson. Recently, within the past 6 months, we had switch to online lessons and the transition did not seem to disrupt my kid’s lessons. I admit, I was a bit skeptical of having my kids do their lessons online, but with Annie’s experience and expertise, she immediately can hear their mistakes when they play the wrong key and is quick to correct them. Also, I think my kids liked virtual lessons even more because they can play in the comfort of their own home.  I can’t say enough how pleased (I am) with the progress Annie had made with my children.” – Trinh N. (PARENT)

“My son has been taking piano lessons for three years now. He loves Annie! She is so patient and gives just the right amount of encouragement when things seem difficult. Piano recitals before pandemic were excellent as well! It was always such a good source of motivation for my son! Plus, it’s so special to see your child play in front of an audience. We would definitely recommend Annie as a teacher to anybody.” – Jolanta G. (PARENT)

“Being the parents of two very energetic kids, we knew how much patience it takes to help them learn, and that’s exactly what Annie is able to offer. My kids have been enjoying the lectures from Annie (both in-person and remotely), as Annie has been able to make it fun (yet challenging) for the kids so they are completely into the process of learning. We are highly recommending Annie to anyone.” – Raymond C. (PARENT)

“Annie filled entire halls for recitals with students from five-year-olds to adults performing; beginners to virtuosos. Beginners always became inspired by their veteran peers showcasing a wide variety of interests. Annie’s versatile teaching style allows musicians to grow remarkably. Each of my three children were Annie’s students for eight years and have become successful musicians in high school and beyond. Piano theory is key to Annie’s musical teachings. My children have utilized music theory at the highest levels of their education, within competitive ensembles. Annie successfully led my three children with her instruction. I’m always astounded by the incredible number of students Annie teaches every week. She remains a friend to our family. We referred many to Annie and have received many thanks in return!” – Catherine L. (PARENT)

“Over the course of my journey as Annie’s student, she has given myself and all of her students opportunities to do things that other teachers wouldn’t. Although she hosts a recital for her students to perform a song, they are given the choice to play any song that they’d like. Whether it be classical, from an anime, video game, movie, etc., they are allowed to play it as long as they are able to learn it before the recital. Not only are you allowed to play any song that you’d like, there is the potential to participate in a large group piece. I was a part of one of the large ensembles and performed Night of Nights/Death Waltz, which went viral on YouTube: https://youtu.be/_5FFYMe-MGE . Having the opportunity to play so many ambitious and fun arrangements makes Annie stand out and above the rest.” – Emersen L. (STUDENT)

“Annie has been my piano teacher for the past 13 years and I have to say that she has given me the best possible music education I could have asked for! Lessons are always structured and organized, I never felt rushed to advance onto higher levels, and most importantly I developed such a passion for piano once I got a better handle on it after the first few levels. I’ve gained friends through participating in groups pieces and have definitely acquired a more appreciative outlook on music overall. I highly recommend Annie’s piano program to anyone who wants to learn piano!” -Richmond S. (STUDENT)

“For the past nine years, I have been a student under Ms. Annie. When I first started, I wanted to give up numerous times. I hated how Ms. Annie kept pushing me. I hated how I had to break down a measure countless times. I hated having to practice everyday. Eventually I realized it was so worth it. That feeling of success that floods your body after working so hard is very rewarding. I am not say it’s easy though, it’s not magic. You have to put the effort in yourself, Ms. Annie is not a miracle worker. In the beginning, it was tough adjusting to her teaching methods. I was in second grade at the time, so my work ethic was not truly developed yet. This made piano seem like endless torture. She makes you go the extra mile, to persevere when it becomes difficult. Because of how and what she taught, my work ethic has improved tremendously since then and is now strong as steel. What I am trying to say is Ms. Annie has taught me a plethora of things that apply to matters beyond piano. I believe my parents enrolling me for piano lessons was one of the best things they could have ever done for me. I’m eternally grateful for that decision they made because if they hadn’t, I would not have met Ms. Annie. I became who I am today because of her.” – Katherina C. (STUDENT)

“I’ve been taking lessons from Annie for 8 years now and she’s an amazing teacher! She is very patient and always makes sure that her students are able to keep up with the lesson. Even though online learning she makes playing the piano fun and engaging.” – Ain J. (STUDENT)

“Annie is an excellent piano teacher that makes piano lessons exciting and fun. She is very accommodating for schedule changes and does everything to make the piano experience as stress-free and enjoyable as possible.” – Felix P. (STUDENT)

“Teacher Annie is a great teacher. She’s very patient and help you through mistakes and difficult songs. She is a great piano teacher! and I’ve had her for 6 years now. I recommend getting lessons from her!” 😸 – Melissa M. (STUDENT)

“Ms. Annie has taught me piano since I was 4 years old and still learning how to read words. I can’t imagine what it would be like to teach a barely-literate toddler, but here I am 12 years later and can read music like a book. I remember as a young child, I would be ecstatic to go to piano lessons because of the yummy candy we received at the end. As I grew older, I began to look forward to piano lessons to tell Ms. Annie about the things going on in my life and to receive help on challenging pieces. Ms. Annie strives to make every single one of her students excel in piano; as seen in our annual recitals. The tremendous amount of talent displayed in our recitals leave everyone’s ears blessed and prove how her teaching creates extraordinary pianists. She pushes everyone to be able to display the best possible version of their piano skills, and often times it is a struggle. When we are faced with a challenging song, it gets to a point where we all want to quit and give up. Ms. Annie’s motivational words and gargantuan amount of belief in her students eliminates the desire to give up. It strengthens our perseverance and all of her students share a common trait of being determined and having a strong work ethic. Due to the corona virus, her teaching is now virtual. Though this is not in person, her keen attention to detail still catches and corrects my mistakes whether it’s a wrong note, or related to dynamics. Ms. Annie is a caring, highly intelligent, extraordinary teacher, and I am very grateful for the amazing influence she has had on my life. 5 STARS! – Ari P. (STUDENT)

“Annie is a knowledgeable and dedicated teacher. She has a great attitude and has been very patient in teaching our daughter play piano since she was 6. She is very thorough at introducing new songs which makes the independent practice at home easy on us and the child. Given the pandemic circumstances, Annie offered online classes which turned out to be surprisingly good despite our concerns. Our daughter loves Ms. Annie’s piano classes which is very important to us. We are very happy that Annie is able to keep the kiddo interested and encouraged to continue learning.” – Natalia D. (PARENT)

“Ms.Annie is a hard-working teacher who strives for the improvement of her students. Although she is strict about practicing, she enjoys making the lessons fun for her students.” – Eric P (STUDENT)

“Good, nice piano teacher, enjoy playing contemporary, later on is much more exciting.” – Philippe X. (STUDENT)

“Annie has been both of children’s piano teacher since 2007. Annie has always been a very organized, supportive, articulate and hard working piano teacher and musical mentor to my children. Annie teaches Piano Theory and has a successful method of teaching measurement counts & timing with using a metronome. Performing on piano has always been a part of my children’s lives. For as long as they can rehearse and have the passion to play, they will continue to keep the music playing on piano. Thank you Annie for being the Best Piano Teacher and for helping SO many of your piano students who were all so fortunate to have your musical teaching talents.” – Cecilia S. (PARENT)

“Annie is a great teacher! After about 8 years of learning under her, I have learned a lot about piano, and how to express myself playing it. She is a compassionate teacher who knows exactly how to help when it comes to piano technique. She can be on the strict side but in time I was able to realize that her script teaching was able to get me practicing and improving every week. She is an excellent teacher!” – Darren H. (STUDENT)

“I’ve been Ms. Annie’s student for about 10 years and she’s taught me so much about piano. She works with students on core techniques and finger exercise books to make us better players. Teaching through zoom has been challenging but she’s doing great by helping demonstrate techniques on her piano and also being very patient despite technical difficulties. Overall, Ms. Annie’s a wonderful teacher and I’m happy to be her student!” – Faith V. (STUDENT)
